The original 1911 Census Form is written with reversed given and surnames. The transcription has also complicated it as you will see. The surname should be "FITT". In 1901 it is "LITT" with outstanding suggested corrections needing tending to. References for surname "FITT" are 1925 Marriage Record for Edward J. Fitt and Mary E. Nichols, 1888. and his 1925 Death Record.

I've adjudicated the 1901 page, added many new links and added a dot after the initials for many givens. I've added new links for Edward Fitt in 1871, 1881 and 1891. Their surname has been written as Fit, Fits (transcribed as Fitz) and Fitts.

For the 1911 page, I reviewed the requests for corrections, then proofread the page and left many other corrections for another adjudicator.

I have cleaned on line 10, * is the correct way to record what is in column 7 and 8 in 1911. I looked for but can't even find the explanation (probably buried in the discussion board somewhere!), but * is used when the entry is legible but not in the drop-down. ? would be used when the entry is not legible. If we want to be very thorough, an explanatory line note can be added, as I have done here.

Cheryl, I got to a lot of Pictou Co. adjudicating when I was self-isolating there in Sept. With this reminder, I'll get back to some more in acknowledgement of your amazing work here.

Michel, there are a few corrections I added to page 18 ages ago. Would you mind clearing these up to make Cheryl's job easier when she gets to this page.

Thank you both very much - really thorough job, I say!!! The rules for the asterisk have always been : whenever something other that what is in the drop list is written in the date fields, use the asterisk and a line note. If "NG" is written in several lines, I think 1or2 line notes should be enough to let the viewer know what it's all about. I could be wrong!

Never had my work called "Amazing" before, Mark!!! Thank you!! After 19 years you kind of get a feel for names in different counties. I hope it has helped you and others find their people. It has been a super hobby for me all these years.

I quite agree about not needing to add line notes for every NG. We happy few who are still doing so much should be realistic about where we can make the biggest difference and "not sweat the small stuff". In my case, when I start feeling overwhelmed with what I could be doing, I try to focus on what will most assist a index searcher. That puts surnames first and then other elements like given names, ages, and birth years. Things like line notes are nice to have but are less important to the big picture.

Mark, I think surnames are the most important starting point to find a person. In places like Pictou County, where there are so many, for example, Scottish people with the names the same as many others, the birthdate can make a difference. Like the name "Fraser" so many given names such as Alexander, James, Daniel etc - hard to tell one from the next. Just a thought! BTW, "Donald" and "Daniel" seem to be interchangeable
