1911 Manitoba Census, Selkirk area. Page 5, lines 48 to 50, last name should be Marchak. Line 50, first name should be Franko not Wa Franko. Page 6, lines 1 to 5, last name should be Marchak.

Frank,

You did not provide much info to enable anyone to locate the household in question to take action.
By providing the transcribed given name "Wa Franko" which is quite rare, enable nme to locate the household in question via a Google search.

In the future, please provide the full location description as per above which can be copied from the second line of every page.
This would enable us to easily find the entry(ies) in question, also it would help if the transcribed name was also included.

For page 5 lines 48-50 and page 6 lines 1-5 - A correction for the surname to read "Marezak" (which is what I read the enumerator wrote) has been submitted for the transcriber to evaluate. Also "Marchak" was added as an alternate surname for the whole household.

Page 5 line 50 - the enumerator wrote "Wa Franco" for the given name.

What if I find an error in the original census?
If the error is in the original census document:

- a surname note provides an alternate surname spelling and allows the members of this family to be identified in the result of a search done on this alternate spelling. When entering a surname note, indicate if it applies to the entire family or only to this individual. Also, please include the bibliographical reference to the source that corroborates the surname provided, and if applicable, add an associated note.

You will find much more information on this at Surname Notes

-for a discrepancy in the given name, gender, and/or date of birth - an online or off-line birth record link is the preferred way to annotate the correct information.

Cheers,
