23-5 Line 21 House 56: John Randall year of birth is 1866 - just a typo

not a Milton Soldier so no link

There is a WWI link for William Thomas Randall #201473

When I am done I should be able to give you the links for all the Milton Soldiers for Urban Milton - but I see there is another topic area for "Link Requests" so I will put there there.

I tried to put the sheets with the links in the other topic area, it keeps disappearing?

The three files in PDF, DOC and XLS are here. The site won't accept those as formats - maybe only JPG here?

http://www.miltonhistoricalsociety.ca/R ... ed1911.pdf

http://www.miltonhistoricalsociety.ca/R ... ed1911.xls

http://www.miltonhistoricalsociety.ca/R ... ed1911.doc

All the same information, just in 3 formats. The CENSUS code is your format, so 22-2-13-22 is MILTON 22-2 LINE 13 HOUSEHOLD 22.

The raw data is as follows, so you get that from the above with links:

B. 1911 / Ontario / Halton / 22 Milton / page 3
C. 1911 / Ontario / Halton / 23 Milton / page 1

Richard,

Ref A.
Line 21 - YOB has been corrected to 1866.
The 1901-WW I link for Randall William has been done.

Ref. B.
Line 15 - The given name has been corrected to "Frederick Chepis" which is what I read the enumerator wrote.
The 1901-WW I link for White Frederick Chepis has been done.

Ref. C.
Line 15 - No correction was done to the given name because I do not read the last letter written by the enumerator as an "x" it looks a lot more as an "r".
The 1901-WW I link for Wilson Aler has been done.

As for your list (spreadsheet is best for me), it will take me some time to do the links. I wil advise when completed.
So as to minimise the time in doing these links, could you please advise if any of them were war casualities. If so, I will also do the link to the Canadian Virtual War Memorial (CVWM).

I have done the CVWM link for Green John Frederick. Surprisingly, this individual is not on your spreadsheet.

Thanks

I just answered all the questions and lost the post - my fault - hit the "x" instead of reduce! So this time, step-by-step.

I did not include Green, John Frederick as the dates do not match. He was one of that group that was living in the hotel and his birth date was given as July 1875. The lad on my sheet, with the same name, has a birth date of September 27, 1887 - which is what you linked to recently. If he lied to attest, he got away with 12 years and I can't see a Recruiting Officer being that gullible (24 versus 36 year old?). SO, Mr. Green is on my list of people still not identified. I do have two younger sons (I presume) that I found through birth certificates - Thomas Frederick Green 18/09/1895 and William Henry Green 16/12/1896, both of Frederick Green of Milton. May not be the same Green either.

Just figured out the mistake - if I PREVIEW a post and hit the links, I leave this page and can not go back! Lost it again.

If you go to the SPREADSHEET, you will see the LAST NAME is a hyperlink if the soldier died in the war. That link takes you to his page on my MHS web site and there are all his links - to the CVWM (linked to his name) and his other information. You can save work if you link to each soldiers page as that takes you to the rest of the information. I can even add the service file links if you want that level of detail, as I have uploaded all of them.

Example for Williams:

Richard,

Thanks for the explanation of where the CVWM link is.

Also I removed the WWI and CVWM links previously done for Green John Frederick because of the age difference and the fact that the attestation was done in Vancouver.

Thanks,

Richard,

I have completed the 1911-WW I links for all the individuals at ref, as follows:
Kennedy Charles
Maude Harold John
Yates George Edward
Jackson Charles Samuel
Morley William James
Chilsom Roy
Maguire John Thomas
Maguire Bert John
White Edgar Blake
Morley William Alexander
Shepherd James
Sheppard Wilfred
Morley Samuel Howard
Waddington Herbert
Sloan Frank James
Allport Percy
Coxe Kenneth

and the 1911-WW I-CVWM links for:
Williams Sydney Thomas.

Subdistrict 23 and 24 for Milton to be done.

Cheers,

Alain,

I was seeking confirmation directly from the family (Marsha Waldie - great granddaughter, President Milton Historical Society) before I posted this one. I have inserted the corrections in RED:

24-4 26 38 Waldie Sarah F Head W Feb 1831 80

24-4 27 38 Waldie Jessie F Daughter S Sep 1868

24-4 28 38 no information (not family)

24-4 29 39 Waldie Alfred M Head M Jan 1871 40

24-4 30 39 Waldie Matilda F Wife M Sep 1870 41

24-4 31 39 Waldie Alfred jr M Son S Nov 1905 5

24-4 32 39 Waldie James M Son S Dec 1908 2

I would agree that the original census appears to clearly says that Sarah Waldie was born in 1841 and she is 70 so I presume that has to stay. She was born in 1831 and was 80. Someone lied!

It is definitely Matilda and not Maureen (line 30) and James not Henry (line 32).

These changes do not relate to any Great War Soldiers so there are no links. For those with an interest, the Waldie Blacksmith Shop in Milton had been completely restored and is operational - you can even take lessons. The great granddaughter Marsha Waldie lives in the same family home!

http://www.miltonhistoricalsociety.ca/E ... gs/Waldie/

Thanks,

Richard
