1911 Census of Canada
Ontario / Simcoe North / 14 Nottawasaga / page 3

please correct:
Lines 29-31 to surname "ALLEN"
Lines 34-36 to surname "ALLEN"

This will correspond to the correct surname of William Putt Allen on the 1901 Census. Seneca Issac Allen listed in the 1911 Census is William's brother.
(reference the 1901 Census of Canada of
Ontario > Simcoe (North/Nord) > Nottawasaga > page 7, lines 30-32)

In addition, please correct:

Line 30, Gwendolen N to "M". Her name is often mispelled even on Schedule A and other official records, however, the middle initial is incorrectly transcribed on this census. One of her middle names is "Maud".
( reference the Canada Births, 1869-1911 Record for Gwindolen Helector Maud Allen in Dufferin>1899>18

Thank you. BTW, are corrections ever made to the transcription errors in Schedule A birth records that differ from the actual registries of birth? Anyone lead me in the right direction?

Corrections to Allen submitted for evaluation by transcriber. Cannot follow what you are saying about Gwendolan; on this page she is at line 35, transcribed as Gwendolan H M. Thanks for your help.

Pia27,

Line 32 of ref - the given name has been corrected to "Gwendoline M".

In response to your question "are corrections ever made to the transcription errors in Schedule A birth records that differ from the actual registries of birth?"

Corrections to any transcription errors are normally made by the transcriber upon submissions of a suggested correction. Because quite a few transcriber have abandoned their transcribed pages, there are also a few adjudicator who presently evaluate and implement suggested corrections for 1901 and 1911 censuses; in view of the large amount of 1901 and 1911 census pages, this progress is relatively slow.
Please note that this applies to transcription error from the original document. If the error is in the original document (i.e. not a transcription error):

What if I find an error in the original census?
If the error is in the original census document:

- a surname note provides an alternate surname spelling and allows the members of this family to be identified in the result of a search done on this alternate spelling. When entering a surname note, indicate if it applies to the entire family or only to this individual. Also, please include the bibliographical reference to the source that corroborates the surname provided, and if applicable, add an associated note.

You will find much more information on this at Surname Notes

-for a discrepancy in the given name, gender, and/or date of birth - an online or off-line birth record link is the preferred way to annotate the correct information.

Forgot to answer the DoB question. If an online record of birth exists in a stable database, it could be linked to from the erroneous census line.
