1911 Census of Canada Home / 1911 / Manitoba / Dauphin / 48 Townships 32 / page 5 Family in lines 2 through 6 transcribed as Kushnisryk and Kushnieryk Should be Kushniryk ...When one of the wonderful volunteers for these records gets the chance to correct. thanks in advance |

Ref.: 1911 / Manitoba / Dauphin / 48 Townships 32 / page 5 xkushnir, The surname of lines 2-5 have been corrected to "Kushnieryk" which is what I read the enumerator wrote. Please note that this is a transcription of the original records, the transcribed name must reflect as accurately as possible the original content of the census records. As "Kushnieryk" has the same soundex code (K256) as "Kushniryk" no alternate surname is required. Please note that although this was written for the 1901 census, the first one transcribed, it applies to all censis Quote: transcription guidelines What if I find an error in the original census?
If the error is in the original census document: - a surname note provides an alternate surname spelling and allows the members of this family to be identified in the result of a search done on this alternate spelling. When entering a surname note, indicate if it applies to the entire family or only to this individual. Also, please include the bibliographical reference to the source that corroborates the surname provided, and if applicable, add an associated note.
