http://automatedgenealogy.com/census11/ ... mode=proof

This page has been claimed as having been proofed. The only thing they "proofed" was the LeForte family, lines 38 onward. Some of the corrections they suggest are not in keeping with the "as enumerated" rule. Could someone please deal with their corrections so I can claim the page and deal with the rest of the errors. Thank you and Happy New Year. Proofing has been going on for 16 years I think! It's been a good hobby. ;)

Hi Cheryl -

I have adjudicated this page and will return to the sub-district from time to time to work through more corrections. It is always a pleasure to review pages you have proofed, with your back-up research. I am bouncing around the country, and between 1901 and 1911, trying to make a dent in the unaddressed corrections and am happy to respond to requests for special attention such as this one. Lately I've tried to address surname corrections as a priority over others thinking that this will have the biggest impact on the usefulness of the index. I too try to get in some proofreading (mostly in Quebec, along with Michel) finding it a great mental exercise - sort of like doing crossword puzzles!

Happy New Year. Mark

Hi Mark - Happy New Year to you, too! I appreciate your thoughts about surnames. I agree they are the most important. I have just "proofed" http://automatedgenealogy.com/census11/ ... p?sdid=421 Which is District 82 in Halifax, NS. It was a terrible job to do and 2 sections had such faded original material, I left them. Someone else had tried their hand. Regarding the other sections, I actually transcribed them for the proofing - so many had been left or partially left with no info on the lines. If you ever get time this would be a good one for "surnames"!!!! I know one family called "Redden" who left notes on the 1901 census so they probably wonder what happened to them in 1911. It was quite a sad section to proof, many of the people were killed in the explosion. Having just studied the explosion a bit, I was really moved. All the links to the Halifax Explosion pages are no longer available. It seems something was changed in the archives and all we are left with is a page with the headline but no info on the person linked. Just thought I'd tell you what happened to District 82. :( :? I didn't get notified of your reply to my earlier note - I'll have to keep track of my messages! Cheryl

Hi Cheryl -

The corrections in Halifax 82 is now fully adjudicated - the few corrections remaining are ones I noticed and added as I was working through all of yours.

What an amazing effort on your part! Very difficult reading but the links you found and added are very helpful. There were a few lines where there were conflicting corrections and I could only guess which ones were yours and come to a conclusion to the best of my ability which to accept. I hope I haven't come to the wrong conclusion anywhere.

Cheers, Mark
