I noticed the "W" for my ancestor, Thomas Moloy, on p. 5d, 6a, (11) for East Nissouri. |

I have no idea what the W means. I appears to be something added after the enumeration was done by clerks who were processing the data. |

I see a similar notation on the first name of the preceding page. Ws (in different scripts) seem to have been added after the name and on the right side of column 5. My first guess is that this is intended to denote widow/widower, just as the Xs in column 5 see to denote married people. Others with greater familiarity with the 1852 census may know more. Mark |
