napajnibor,
Any one who register can transcribe a page. If not interested in the long term maintenance of the transcribed pages, just do not claim the page.
Although the transcriber is the one to do all changes to claimed pages, many pages have been abandonned. What then? The site manager has instituted adjudicators (only a few individials have this capability) whose initial task was to go through any suggested correction not accepted by the transcriber and be the third party for final decision to either accept the correction or delete it. Thse adjusicators slowly adjudicate pages including the one that have been abandonned.
When someone submit a suggested correction to an 1852 page that you claimed, you will not receive an email. Instead when you sign in on the 1852 census, the first page that will appear, will indicate if there are or not any suggested correction. If there are it will also indicate on which page(s) they are.
This is the new (second generation) message board and there are no locked topics on it. All the topic on the old (first generation) message board are locked to forced everyone to add new post the new message board. It makes it easier to manage.
Cheers,
