I can no longer get the split screen to open in one window for proof reading. Has Acrobat done some change that I have to figure out? I've been away from doing any proof reading for several months.

Alexis,

When you updated Adobe Reader, I suspect that you lost a setting that permits to display PDF in browser.

To reset this,
Open Adobe Reader,
On the Edit tab, select Preferences which is the last menu item;
In the categories list, select Internet;
Select Display PDF in Browser
Click on OK

I am not sure that this has to do with Adobe. I use Foxit Reader, and I have also experienced different behaviour recently...
