How does one go about get involved in transcribing and/or proofing? I've been researching my family tree for a couple of years and have appreciated all the time and effort put into having these records available online! Even though I am nowhere near finished I wouldn't mind giving back some of this effort. |

Gypsyblue, There are currently lots of opportunity to participate by proofreading the pages that are not proofread. First May I suggest the you familiarize yourself with the transcription rules under "Help" on the top line of the Automated Genealogy pages for the census. (This is the bulletin board forums) One of the main rule is that the names must be transcribed as written by the enumerator. If you agree to follow the rules, then register as a volunteer on any one of the census main page. You only need to register on one census because all the Automated Genealogy census and linking project pages forms one area to which this single registration applies. Note that the bulletin board forum has it own registration because it is a separate entity from the census areas Once registered just sign in and start contributing. Thanks for the interest, |
