Post subject:  1921 Census.

Hello,

Today, I noticed a move of LAC on many topics. First of all, they edited many new censuses on the web: 1825, 1831, 1842, 1852 and 1861. Of course, there is a lot of data errors on those.

But finally, we realize that LAC came to an agreement with Ancestry.com for the edition on the web of the 1921 census. Unfortunately, the access on those new data implies the obligation to register to Ancestry.com.

I would like to know what's the state of the union of AG on that issue. Is there a chance that the 1921 data will ever be available on the AG data banks?

Thanks for your answer.

Michel Dubois.

Lindsay had a look at the 1921 census to see if it would be possible for AutomatedGenealogy to transcribe it. Because you have to register with Ancestry to access the pages, he is not able to set it up they way he did for the 1901 and 1911 census indexes. Ancestry is in the process of indexing the census, and Lindsay feels that his volunteers would not be willing to put all that work into indexing it a second time in any case. So, because of the arrangement that LAC made with Ancestry, we shall have to either pay for viewing the index on Ancestry or wait until it is made available at LAC.
Thank you for your interest and for all the work that you have done on the AG census indexes.
