Could you please tell me why the census for 1852 Allumette Island Quebec has been deemed missing? I have frequently used it in the past and it has always been there. Is there a way to get it back?
Thanking you in advance.

Val

Hi Val -

Automated Genealogy uses the digitized census images provides by Library & Archives Canada (LAC). According to LAC there are a number of missing subdistricts in 1852 as per the following note: "The note (census records have not survived) appearing beside a Sub-district name indicates that these records did not survive and therefore no nominal index or digitized images exist."

When I search LAC for Allumettes, it indicates "Missing".

District: 20 - Ottawa (county)
Sub-District Number Sub-District Name Microfilm
258 Allumettes Missing
https://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/census/18 ... -east.aspx

Where do you think you have previously searched records for this sub-district? We'd be very interested to see missing records found.

Thanks. Mark
