Smith Sarah & Smith Willie

In 1909 Sarah remarried John Smith and for some reason all the Chaif children were listed as Smith on the 1911 census but Willie was born at the time of the 1901 census and listed as Chaif William. My father is listed on line 15 as Smith John but his last name was never Smith but Chaif.
