When I linked a couple of persons from two families accross the 1901, 1906, and 1911 censuses, I found a message about family links on my screen, and clicked that too. It worked in a way, but where I joined persons from three censuses in a single stroke, I didn't find something similar for families. Can anyone tell me how that works, precisely. The families I'm working with start as a single household number 19 in the 1901 census on this page: http://automatedgenealogy.com/census/View.jsp?id=65336 In the 1906 census it shows that the lodger Ole and his wife have moved out and created their own family, with 2 kids in 1906. 4 in 1911. Question 1: How can I use the family link feature on the 1906 and 1911 for Ole & Inga and their offspring? Question 2: Should be 1 ... What's the use of family links? Is it just an aid to create person links for other members of a family where one such link already exists? thanks, Enno |

Family linking only works for 1901 and 1911. You cannot use it for 1906. It is used to quickly link members of a household (i.e. the people had to be all in the same household in 1901, and also all in the same household in 1911). In that case, it is much quicker than linking them separately one by one. |
