Hello,

An attempt to link a LAC record will lead to an invalid URL, since LAC is generating a URL with 'https' while AG is expecting a 'http'. So a manual correction of the URL is presently required.

Thanks,

Michel Dubois, Quebec City.

If one starts with the LAC link in the linking centre https won't be used and everything works as expected. Are you just suggesting that it should accept either one?

Hello Lindsay,

Here is the path I followed for the Octave Latulippe record on the following page in 1901:

http://automatedgenealogy.com/census/View.jsp?id=82556

First, I selected the linking icon at the right in 1901.

Second, I went through a search of Octave Latulippe on LAC1891 through Google:

Third, I clicked on 'Item Number: 4383070' which lead to:

https://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/census/18 ... id=4383070

Fourth, I copied the resulting URL on the link center which lead to

"Unrecognized PANB/LAC link: https://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/census/18 ... id=4383070"

Fifth, I modified the 'https' argument to 'http' which lead to an accepted URL by AG.

So, as you suggest AG could accept either http or https.

Thanks for your interest,

Michel Dubois, Quebec City.

The "issue" occurred because the Google search returned a result with https.

Since it was easy, I added a line to the code to change https to http automatically.
