Hi

I use the automated genealogy site to obtain much family information. How do I cite material that I access?

Terry,

Although you use automatedgenealogy online resources to find family information on the various censuses,
the actual sources of the information are the original censuses themseleves, not the transcribe portions that are used to find an individual or family.

I always use the image of the original census as the cited source of the information accessed on-line.

The basic format for Web sites is: Author(s), if given and many times there are none; title of the
specific item cited, if any; name of the Web site; URL; published and/or update, if any; accessed date.

Here is an example for Robert Palmer family in the 1901 census:

Dominion Bureau of Statistics. Robert Palmer household. Library and Archives Canada - Census of Canada - 1901 census /Ontario / CARLETON / Ottawa (East/Est) (Village) G / Page 10.
