In the 1911 Census- Ontario/Waterloo North/35 Berlin/pg. 2/ Line 44. It lists Fruiedo Pokrifka. It is actually Frank Pokryfka. He was boarding with his brother Vincent Pokryfka at that residence. I am his granddaugher-in-law and doing research for the family. Thanks for any help. Jennifer Porter |

Ref.: 1911 / Ontario / Waterloo North / 35 Berlin / page 2 Jennifer, Lines 44 and 45 - the surname was not corrected from "Pokrifka" to "Pokryfka" because the enumerator wrote "Pokrifka" for the surname and the policy of this site is to transcribe what the enumerator wrote. A surname note was not added because both spelling share the same soundex code: P261. Line 44 the given name has been corrected to "Franke" which is what the enumerator wrote. What if I find an error in the original census? If the error is in the original census document: - a surname note provides an alternate surname spelling and allows the members of this family to be identified in the result of a search done on this alternate spelling. When entering a surname note, indicate if it applies to the entire family or only to this individual. Also, please include the bibliographical reference to the source that corroborates the surname provided, and if applicable, add an associated note. You will find much more information on this at Surname Notes -for a discrepancy in the given name, gender, and/or date of birth - an online or off-line birth record link is the preferred way to annotate the correct information.
