There seems to be an anomaly when I do a search for the surname "New" in Quebec in the 1901 Census.

If I go to the 1901 Census home and perform a National Surname Search for "New", I get the following, in part:

"Surname New occurs in the following provinces: BC (2) MB (16) NB (5) NS (5) ON (127) QU (3) All (158)
There are 155 matching records."
(Search Results)

Notice the discrepancy between the total in the first line (158) and the number of matching records (155), a difference of 3.

When I click on the link for "QU (3)" (which I assume means there are 3 records), there are no matching records returned.

No matter how I search from different pages or what links I follow, I cannot get matching records for the surname "New" in Quebec, even though I think the records exist. What have I missed?

John,

It appears that there were once three entries in Quebec for the surname "New" but that these have been corrected to something else after the last rebuilt of the index was done.

I have no way to know what these three entries were.

Cheers,
