On the automatedgenealogy.com website I found a relative, Richard Lancefield, on the 1901 census. It lists the page as follows: 1901 Census of Canada Page Information District: ON HAMILTON (City/Cité) (#69) Subdistrict: Ward/Quartier No. 3 C-1 Page 8 C-1 has only pages 1-4 on the National Archive site. Are pages missing on the archive site, or has your transcriber written the wrong information? |

The 1901 census has 2 schedules, #1 which is the data which has been transcribed here, and #2 which relates the data pages to addresses. C-1 Schedule 2 has only 4 pages, but C-1 Schedule 1 has 19 pages. Hope this clears up your confusion. Gord |

Thanks so much. Every time I tried to click on the split screen option my computer froze. I tried to use the National Archive site and put in "district 69". What came up appeared to be in order of a-1, b-1 etc, but I didn't notice that the schedule number was different. For some reason c-1 schedule 1 is not adjacent to c-1 schedule 2 in the results so it took a long scroll-down and page-forward session to get to it. Now that I know that the schedule number makes a difference I'll be able to find anything like this in the future. Cheers! |
