I'm new to this forum. I was on the Census of 1911 looking for information on one of my Grandmother's brothers and he's not listed. He is however, listed on the 1901 census. His name is Louis Telesphore Pelchat born Oct 2, 1895. My question is if he's on the 1901 he's about 6 years old and not on the 1911 when he would have been 16 does that mean he is deceased? And if that is so how would I find out where to look for his obituary? Thanks for helping, I'm so new at this. Angie Lemieux-Garand |

There are many possibilities. He could have died, or he could have been living elsewhere (at a boarding school, with relatives, as a servant, labourer or apprentice in another household, etc...). |

Angie, As Louis Telesphore was with his parents in 1901, age 6, at line 16 but not in 1911 at age 16, does not necessarily means that he died between 1901 and 1911, he could have move (possibly to the US) with another relative for work purposes or other reasons. I checked BMS2000 but did not find a burial entry for him. I also checked other online records without success. Sorry, |

I found Louis Pelchat in the "Commonwealth War Graves Commission". This Louis Pelchat was 24 and died Oct 23 1918 -just before the end of the War. If the age doesn't match, a lot of the young men lied about their ages to enlist. http://www.cwgc.org/search/casualty_det ... lty=421462 Cheryl |

Cheryl, This Louis J. A. Pelchat is a different individual because his parents are Louis and Eglantine Miller Pelchat and is in the air forces with service number 172893. He is found in the 1901 and 1911 census. CVWM link done. While the Louis Pelchat of the original request is in the 1901 census, his parents are Isidore and Leda Pelchat; and his attestation papers dated 25 Jun 1918 has him in the army with regimental number 3286331 and a birth date of 2 Oct 1895. Thank you for looking that up in about Louis Pelchat. His parents are Isidore Pelchat and Leda Croteau. After he joined up for WW1 there doesn't seem to be anymore info on him anywhere I have looked. I'm not very good at this yet and you folks have been so much help. I even talked with someone from the Soldiers of the first Wordl War and they could only say that I had to buy this packet with Louis's info in it. All I wanted to know is if he made it back. So, I'll keep looking and thanks for all your help everyone Also, my e-mai address had changed and I'm not sure how to change it with this forum so I'll give it here if anyone needs to contact me. Angie, Here are the steps by steps required to change your e-mail address on this message board: A) Click on "User Control Panel" located at the top left below the title banner; B) On the left side, under "Options", click on "Profile"; C) On the left side, under "Options", click on "Edit account settings"; D) Enter your new e-mail address for "E-mail address:" and "Confirm e-mail address:"; E) Enter your password used to sign on the message board for "Current password:"; and F) Click on the "Submit" button. He did come back from the War. I found a June 1920 Border crossing for 24 year old Louis Pelchat son of Isidore.It was in Ancstry.ca and his occupation was Lumberjack. http://search.ancestry.ca/iexec?htx=Vie ... pid=967021 Sorry about my wrong prior entry! Cheryl |
