The following corrections were recently made to the 1911 census.
Alberta-Calgary-township 23-page 23- a family surname was corrected to RIVA from RUA.
Nova Scotia-Halifax-district 87-page 1-a family surname was corrected to MANNING from MORRISON. I find when you use the search function however, you still initially need to enter the name as it was first transcribed. Is there a reason why the search function is not also corrected or can this not be done? R.RIVA

R. Riva,

You still initially need to enter the surname as it was first transcribed in the search function because it uses a prebuilt index for the search. The index used by the search depends on the location from which the surname search is initiated.

For each census, there is an index for each level (National, Province, District, Enumeration District). Only the Enumeration District index is updated as changes occur. The other indexes are rebuilt once a month approximately via a procedure initiated by the site manager during a quiet time to minimise the impact on users.

Cheers,
