I can't get on the Automated Genealogy site and this is happening a lot lately. The Error says "Site cannot be reached" "Connection was reset". I don't know what this means but it does make proof reading rather difficult! I would appreciate any info . Also, the connection to this page is not secure. :?: :?: :?:

Hi Cheryl -

Thanks for the heads-up. It should be working now.

Here is the explanation I posted to the Facebook group by way of an explanation two weeks ago (although I'm not sure if it is the cause this time):
According to the site administrator, we have recently been deluged by visits from search engine robots. The big names are generally well behaved, but others are not, firing of multiple searches per second and overwhelming the site. He is trying to find solutions that are more than short term manual intervention. I have found that access for regular users is intermittent, even without the site administrator's intervention, and have come back after a while to find it back up. Thanks for your patience. Thanks also for the compliments. The great strength of the indices are definitely the input from local transcribers, proofreaders and linkers who know the local names.

Cheers, Mark

Thanks, Mark! That explains it well. So annoying! I am now pending on the FB page - hope I'll be permitted!1 :)

I checked the connection when I wrote the above and it was working. 5 mins or so later, the error message is showing again. I'm noticing the i in the circle is back - does that really mean the site is not secure?
Thanks.

I'll be moving to a new server sometime in the next week or so, hopefully these issues will go away in the process.
