Hello, The 'Compare with LAC function' doesn't seem to work anymore. It looks like the extracted file from LAC isn't present on the AG side, as far as I understand. That function is very useful. So far, with that aid, I could send many thousand requests for correction to the LAC staff. And they proceeded to updates in most of the cases. Thanks for reviewing that issue. Hi Michel - To my knowledge the "Compare to LAC" function is only set up for 1871 and 1881, and only a small number of sub-districts, mostly in New Brunswick, have been set up and transcribed. Lindsay looked and the 1871 "Compare to LAC" was indeed not worked and he has now fixed it. A similar feature has not been implemented for 1852, or any of the other AG censuses. Did you mean 1871? Or is there something we are not understanding in your message? Could you give a link to a sample page with the problem? Thanks. Mark |

Hello Mark, I'm back in the gray weather of our beautiful country. I've been using the 'Compare to LAC' function daily for the last 3 years in the 1852 census, mainly in Quebec City. So far, I transcribed more than 30,000 entries in the Quebec City area in the 1852 census. A lot of them have been checked against the Marcotte directory for 1852 plus BMS2000 and then compared to LAC. This is why I could send to LAC a large amount of corrections. When I started the 1852 transcription of the Quebec City area 5 years ago, the total number of families already transcribed was at 600 over a total of 6880 families. Today, the total is 6436, which means that I intend to finish that huge task next summer. See an example of a typical entry that I couln't compare to LAC during the last weekend: http://automatedgenealogy.com/census52/ ... p?id=63550 You must scroll down the page to view the 'Compare to LAC function'. Michel. |

Hi Michel - Thanks for the detailed explanation. Lindsay had forgotten that he set this up for 1852 and never knew it existed. The problem should now be fixed - just let us know with another post if it isn't working the way it used to. I'll have to go back and review the pages I transcribed in Sherbrooke Co. 30,000 is amazing, especially with the challenging handwriting. Cheers, Mark |

Hello Mark, The situation is back to normal regarding the 'Compare' function. So, I'll resume the transcription hoping to finish the job by mid-summer. Thx a lot for your interventions, Michel. |
