I Can Not "sign on" to proof, even though it shows I am signed in on a previous page.
I took the time to proof read a census page in the 1901 census. Which took me quite some time. I am logged in, but after I proofed the page and clicked that I had done so, it said I must sign on - when I clicked that it would not sign me in it says Authentication failed.

Hi Peglegge -

Apologies for being slow to respond. In the intervening time have you gone back and still had trouble signing in?

It is a little difficult to figure out what might be going on for you so please bear with me as we try and sort this out. I have just proofread a page myself and I was able to sign on, enter suggested corrections and claim proofreader credit without problems so the system in general is working as it should. Were you able to enter suggested corrections as you worked on the page? As I am sure you have experienced, it you go away from the site for a while it will automatically log you out and it sounds as if this happened but you then had trouble signing back in. Could you send me a link to the page you were working on?

I doubt this is related to your issue but one thing that has thrown me in the past is that www.automatedgenealogy.com and automatedgenealogy.com (without the www) both work and the same sign-in user name and password can be used on either but if you sign in on a page with www.auto... you will appear not to be signed in on a auto... page, and vice versa. It is best to chose one format or the other and stick to it.

Thank you for your proofreading effort. I know from experience that some pages can be exceedingly difficult and/or time consuming. It is the combined efforts of transcribers and proofreaders, especially when they have local knowledge, make for such an impressive index.

Mark

I can sign into this section of the site "message boards"
But when I try to "sign on" on the census page to transcribe or proof, using the same email address and password it fails.
There is no "forgot my password" button, and if I try to sign up again, it says that the email address is already used.
Getting very frustrated and ready to give up. If you will notice in the Ontario, Welland, Pelham, Louth Census I have already transcribed or proof read many pages. This was done quite a few years ago. And would like to contribute some more. Please help my to figure this out...Peggy Wessel Thank you

Hi Peglegge -

The message board and the the census project are two separate systems and so the password for one is not the same as the password for the other, unless you set them so. I will send you your password reminder question by private message so others can't see it on this system, so please watch for the message.

Sorry this has been frustrating for you but we look forward to having you back proof reading, reviewing corrections on your pages, etc.

Thanks. Mark
