1901 Census of Canada Page Information
District: ON BRANT (South/Sud) (#46)
Subdistrict: Brantford (City/Cité) A-4 Page 2
Image: View the image with: split screen
Images are from National Archives Web Site
Details: Schedule 1 Microfilm T-6459
Transcriber: Link to the Past

Family 13 I have linked to the Lockwood Family in Niagara Falls in 1911. The recorders L does look very like an I, and loop at the bottom of that letter I is a subscript-y "O." I noted that Family Search got the transcription right! I know that this has been looked at previously and the suggestion rejected, but may I suggest a sober second thought?

Hi Jayne -

I've examined other "L"s and "k"s from in this sub-district and agree with your assessment. Especially with a very clear entry in 1911, Lockwood is closer than Ichwood and I have therefore accepted the correction.

However there are problems with the links:
William, Emma and Leona in 1911 is linked to Walter in 1911 rather than to their own 1901 entries.
If you created these links then you will see that you have the ability to unlink them and start fresh. If someone else created the links then someone with unlinking authorization will have to fixed it.

Thanks for your input. Mark

You are correct that I somehow created the problem with those 1911 links. I will try to fix it! Thank you.

Hi, Mark,
I corrected the links. I noticed that the index still lists the name as Ichwood. I have no idea how to go about getting a correction to that!

Yes, the index will get updated in due course. The administrator runs a sweep intermittently to pick up corrections but until that happens there is a bit of a lag.

Cheers, Mark

Thanks. I wondered when I had to use Ichwood to find and to correct what now displayed as Lockwood.
