Ppandzee,

The Legislation does not permit the disclosure of personal information until 92 years has passed since the time of enumeration. Therefore the 1921 census will not be released until 2013.

Cheers,

Is there any news yet on when the digitized version of the 1921 Census will be online? Thank you.

Don't know if anything further will be done since it was 'given' to Ancestry:

As Gord indicates, as a result of an agreement between Library & Archives Canada and Ancestry.ca, the 1921 census images can only be accessed on the Ancestry site. We would need easier access to the full set of the digitized pages of this census to be able to contemplate a means for volunteers to transcribe in a similar format to the group effort realized on the earlier censuses.

Thanks. Mark

That is a real shame. Your site has been such a wonderful source and much more accurate than ancestry.com whose fees can be out of the reach of the average person. You can't access them through your local library unless you are IN the library itself. Our librarian advised that it was not their rule, but set by ancestry.com and since the library only has 2 computers available for public use, it really makes it nearly impossible to spend any time doing research because you can only use the library's computer for short periods of time.
