A 404 error message indicates that the server couldn’t find the page you requested. The URL you are referring to may have linked to our old FamilySearch web site which is no longer available. The old site reached its limits. We needed a much more robust system to handle the old data (IGI, Ancestral File, Pedigree Resource File, etc.) as well as the millions of new records being added.
The good news is that the 1881 Canadian census is available on our current site (
https://www.familysearch.org/). Scroll down and click on “Canada” under the “Browse by Location” section. You will then see an extensive list of online Canadian records in our Historical Record Collections. You can click on “Canada Census, 1881” to search that collection.
